Mrs. Vera Wills Schmidt, 72, of Pinellas Park, Florida, formerly of Hyndman and Buffalo Mills, died in the Punxsutawney Area Hospital on Wednesday, January 3, 1979. She was born October 19, 1906, in Hyndman, a daughter of the late John L. Lehman and Eva (Sherman) Lehman. Mrs. Wills was preceded in death by two husbands, Randolph W. Wills in August of 1953, and Harry Schmidt, who died in January of 1976. Surviving is a son; a step-son, of Sylvania, Ohio; a daughter, of Frostburg, Pa.; a step-daughter, of Newark, Delaware; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild [names were redacted]. Also surviving are three brothers, Sherman Lehman, of Buffalo Mills, R.D. 1; Reuel Lehman, of Hyndman; and Regis Lehman; of New Boston, New Hampshire; and five sisters, Dale, wife of Thomas Shuck, of Baltimore; Vivian, wife of Leonard Malas, of Buffalo Mills, R.D. 1; Twila, widow of Dr. Samuel R. Black, of Kittanning, Pa.; Faye, wife of Howard May, of Buffalo Mills, R.D. 1; and Anna, wife of John Waltman, of Bedford. Mrs. Schmidt was a retired salesperson for the Penn Traffic store in Johnstown, retiring in 1964. Funeral services: Saturday, January 6, 1979, at 2 p.m. in the Zeigler Funeral Home in Hyndman, with Rev. Richard L. Tome officiating. Burial in Lybarger Cemetery. Friends will be received in the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Lybarger Lutheran Church Building Fund.
