Sandi Marie Elzinga, age 73, of Grand Haven passed away Thursday, June 18, 2015, at her home. She was born June 19, 1941, in Holland to Dr. Edwin and Marie (Van Wyk) Vander Berg, and she married William Edward Elzinga on August 4, 1961, in Holland. He preceded her in death on April 2, 2002.

Sandi worked as a freelance writer. She loved both reading and writing and wrote articles for magazines and devotions that were published in the "Hope for the Mourning" devotional Bible. Sandi had a passion for ministering to those who were grieving. She built a supportive community of readers through her "grief walk" website. Sandi attended Covenant Life Church in Grand Haven.

She is lovingly remembered by two daughters, two sons, eight grandchildren, her sister, and her brother.

The funeral service for Sandi will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2015 at Covenant Life Church in Grand Haven with Rev. Bruce Ballast officiating. Friends may meet the family from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, June 25, at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven. Interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Tri Cities Ministries or Love INC are appreciated.
