Olive Wheaton, Ottumwa
OTTUMWA — Olive Arena Wheaton, 78, of 827 Albia Rd., died at 4:54 a.m. December 21, 2005, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born October 18, 1927 in Ottumwa to Walter J. and Arena Decker Eakins.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1945, she had been a resident of Ottumwa all of her life. She had worked at Casey's on east Main and was a dietary assistant at Ottumwa Regional Health Center, retiring in 1989. She was a member of First Pentecostal Assembly of God. She enjoyed playing Bingo and loved being with family and friends.
Surviving are three daughters, Teresa (Rick) Monohon, Mary (Doug) Hopkins, Toni (Jon) Welch, all of Ottumwa; five grandchildren, Ricki Monohon, Wes (Anne) Monohon, Curt (Sarah) Hopkins, Kelli (Jared) Tschetter, Jonny (Sarah) Welch; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Martha Overturf of Colorado Springs, CO; and a brother, Gene Eakins of Fort Meyers, FL.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Lloyd, Lawrence and Wesley Eakins and twin infant brothers; five sisters, Helen Eakins, Flossie Oiler, twin sisters, Pauline Conder and Maxine Ware, and infant sister, Jennie Eakins.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Rev. George Edgerly officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
Olive's grave is located next to her daughter, Teresa, in the Shaul Cemetery.
