Lloyd C. Eakins, 71, of 108 W. Mary, died at 1:45 p.m. Aug 9, 1983, in Ottumwa Hospital.
He was born Oct. 18, 1911 to Walter and Arena Decker Eakins. A retired John Deere Ottumwa Works employee, he was a member of First Foursquare Church and United Auto Workers Local 74. He married Nancy Butler April 17, 1937, at Ottumwa.
Survivors: his wife, sons Merrill of Ottumwa and David of Garwin; daughters Shirley McCarty, Doris Lathrop and Betty Yates of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; brothers Eugene of Fort Myers, Fla., and Wesley of Lavaca, Ark.; and sisters Flossie Oiler of Amarillo, Texas, Maxine Ware, Pauline Conder and Olive Wheaton, all of Ottumwa, and Martha Overturf of Alamosa, Colo.
Service: 1:30 p.m. Friday at Johnson Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Vernon Rayphole officiating. Burial: Shaul Cemetery
Pallbearers: Phil, Gene and Jerry McCarty, Dwight Yates, Joe Knapp and David Joseph Eakins.
