Ethel was the wife of the late Arthur Wilhide and the late Paul Johnson. She was a former resident of Charlotte, N.C. Ethel was born in Wrightsville, on January 8, 1920, a daughter of the late Christian and Ida Mae (Dellinger) Smeltzer.
She was a former employee of Danskin, Cole Steel, W T Grant, Memorial Hospital of York, and numerous other places of employment. She will always be remembered for her pleasant smile and pleasing personality. Ethel attended Calvary Church in Charlotte, N.C., and Mt. Pisgah Trinity United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Helm and husband, Jack of Hellam, and Connie Cline and husband, Charles of York; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Trudy Edleblute and Patty Fauth.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2015, at Mt. Pisgah Trinity United Methodist Church, 5615 Mt. Pisgah Road, York. Officiating will be the Rev. Robert Riedy of the Church of the Open Door. B
