Clifton O. Woodard

MARSHFIELD - Clifton O. Woodard, 78, of Marshfield, a retired power plant engineer for Gillette Co. and a World War II Navy veteran, died Thursday at Bay Path Nursing Home in Duxbury.

Mr. Woodard worked 40 years for Gillette.

He joined the National Guard at age 19. During World War II, he was stationed on the U.S.S. Winslow in the South Pacific and received the American Area Ribbon and the European-African Mid-East Ribbon.

Born in Gladstone, N.M., he graduated from high school in Albany, Ore., and attended Wentworth Institute.

Husband of the late Margaret (McCaul) Woodard, he is survived by three sons, Clifton J. Woodard and James Woodard, both of Marshfield; and LIVING; six daughters, LIVING; a brother, Ivan Woodard of Camp Wood, Texas; two sisters, Louis Eichelberger of Boise, Idaho, and Dora Bell of Nampa, Idaho; 18 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The Rev. Robert Remick of the Victory Baptist Church in Brant Rock will conduct a funeral service 11 AM Monday at the MacDonald Funeral Home. Burial will be in Couch Cemetery.
