GREENWOOD - Herman Leo Black , 89, of 98 Fourth St. died Dec. 20, 1998, in Danville Regional Medical Center in Chatham VA. A native of Saluda County, he was the widower of Mary Alice Gillian Black and son of the late Jacob Haskell and Nina B. Black . He was a member of Panola United Methodist Church, where he was a former Sunday school superintendent, teacher, Administrative Board member, and member of United Methodist Men. Upon his retirement from Panola Mill, he served as custodian. Survivors include two sons, William "Bill" Ray Black Sr. of Woodruff and Bobby Haskell Black of Chatham; a daughter, Deloris B. Minnick of Ninety six; 11 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Harley Funeral Home.
