Mary was born April 8, 1933 in Liberty Township, Kansas to Andrew and Pearl Hoach. She graduated High School and married Jesse Leatherman on May 20, 1951. Mary attended the United Church of God for many years. She enjoyed gardening, especially flowers, and could often be seen canning up her homegrown fruits and veggies. Mary surprised her family one year by joining a church bowling league and brought home the trophy, which she treasured a lot. Mary didn't do a lot of traveling, but she and Jesse took an impromptu trip to Israel in the 1980s and were always proud of making the trip. She loved her family deeply and was proud of all of her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jesse Leatherman, her sister, Elsie Mercer Duncan, and her brothers, Dwayne Mercer and Fred Hoach.
Mary is survived by her sons, Walter Dean Leatherman and his wife Barbara, and Bernard James Leatherman and his wife Denise; five grandchildren, Melanie, Monica, Andrea, Timothy and Amanda; five great-grandchildren, Wesley, Violet, Alex, Aspen and Evan; and her sister, Georgia Hoach Harman.
