Mrs. Willa Carolyn Cook Gates, age 92 of Winnfield, passed away Monday, June 16, 2015 at Autumn Leaves Nursing Home. Mrs. Gates was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to many and was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gates is survived by son, Robert E. Gates & wife Scarlett; Granddaughters Lori Gates Norton & husband Brian, Heather Gates Maloy & husband Timothy; Great grandchildren, Nicholas Warner & special friend Devann Stott, Tyler Warner, Dustin Norton, Brittany Norton Head & husband Timothy, Breanna Causey and Mykenzie Maloy; great-great grandchildren: Gunner Norton, River Norton, Eli Warner, Luke Tucker, & Remington Head.
Mrs. Gates was preceded in death by her husband, Elson Gates; son, Ervin Gates and wife Fran; daughter, Patricia Abercrombie and husband Raymond; Granddaughters, Connie June Gates Causey and Donna Lynn Abercrombie Jones.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 17 at Southern Funeral Home, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and again on Thursday, June 18 from 8:00 AM until time of services.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Southern Funeral Home with Rev. Wallace Ingles officiating. Interment will follow in Sikes Cemetery, in Sikes.
Pallbearers will be Nicholas Warner, Tyler Warner, Dustin Norton, Timothy Head, Christopher Bedgood, and Bobby Joe Chandler. Honorary Pallbearers, Craig Chandler, Cale Chandler, Brian Norton, & Timothy Maloy.
