Dee Ann Scott, 63, of Springfield, formerly of Chatham, passed away at Memorial Medical Center on Saturday, August 10, 2013. She was born on July 21, 1950 into the Creek Nation, in Tulsa, OK to the late Luther and Delores Starr Grayson. Dee was preceded in death by her sister Sharon Giles and brother Kirk Grayson. Mrs. Scott worked at SIU School of Medicine in the ENT clinic as a supervisor for the receptionists and retired after 22 years of service. Dee was the past president of AFSCME Local 370, Council 31. She married Robert Eugene Scott on February 15, 1974. Dee enjoyed scrap booking and traveling with her family. The first time she saw the ocean she was mesmerized by its beauty.
She will be missed by her husband, Bob; sons Matthew Scott and Richard Scott (significant other Kailey Schuckmann) all of Springfield; grandson, Quintin of Springfield; half brothers, Timothy (Diana) Miller of San Rafael, CA and Wayne (Pam) Polk of Okmulgee, OK; brother in law, Roy Giles of Newcastle, OK; 2 nieces, Deana Giles and Joy (Cory) Giles Russell; great-niece, great nephew and several cousins.
Her family will greet friends from 10:30 AM to 11 AM Saturday, August 17, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham.
Memorial Service will follow at 11 AM. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois in Chatham before the services.
Memorial contributions may be made to the educational fund for her grandson, Quintin or the charity of the donor’s choice.
