Aberdeen - Evelyn Borge Clausen, 89, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2005, at Bethesda Nursing Home. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1429 N. Dakota St., Aberdeen, with the Rev. Keith O. Hanson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005, with family present from 2 to 4, at Miller-Huebl Funeral Home, 1111 S. Main St., Aberdeen, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Evelyn Minnie Dunker was born on a farm southeast of Warner, on June 12, 1916, to Ed and Eva Dunker. She attended country school until she graduated from the eighth grade. She then went to Groton High School for three years and graduated from Stratford High School in 1934. She married Harold C. Borge, of Mellette, on June 22, 1935. They lived and farmed in Spink and Brown County and moved to a farm northwest of Brentford in 1943. They farmed and raised livestock there until Harold passed away on Oct. 7, 1970. Evelyn married Matt Clausen on Feb. 14, 1980, and they continued to live on the farm. Matt passed away Dec. 10, 1987. Evelyn moved to the Primrose Apartments in 1997 and has resided at Bethesda Nursing Home since February, 2000. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Mellette. She was a Life Member of the Rebekah Lodge, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Brentford, The Birthday Club, The King's Daughters & Sons, and several Bridge Clubs. She really loved to play cards, especially Bridge, and get together with family and friends. She liked to knit and crochet. Evelyn has traveled to all 50 states. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Francis) Halvorson, Mellette; three sons: Lewis Borge, Aberdeen, Ralph (Janice) Borge, Aberdeen, and Dean Borge, Mellette; daughter in-law: Bonnie (Alan) Clemensen; 15 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; stepdaughter: Lois Raile, California; stepson: Larry Clausen, Turton; two sisters: Inez Knickrehm, Groton, and Mildred Williams, Aberdeen; two brothers: Wallace (Betty) Dunker, Aberdeen, and Dale (Marjorie) Dunker, Groton; and three sisters-in-law: Carol Dunker, Aberdeen, Luella Fawcett, Oregon, and Carol Lewis, California; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three sons: Duane in 1944, Thomas in 1962, and LaVerne in 1974, her brother: Raymond Dunker and her sister: Hazel Sager. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Daryl Halvorson, Richard Halvorson, Roger Halvorson, Bradley Borge, Brandon Borge, Tim Borge, Tod Borge and Thomas Borge. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters: Debra Houdek, Cristy Biegler, Tracy Hanlon, Lea Ann Flaagan, Becky Dutenhoffer, Tammy Kuehn, and Nicole Kassube.
