Marvin Gardner Bennion went to England on his Mission but he was recalled at the outbreak of the war. He then began what seemed to be a promising career by entering Medical School, and enlisted in the Marines when the US entered the war. He spent the duration of the war training recruits in Mare Island, CA, reaching the rank of Sergeant. . After the war he returned to school, but health issues caused him to withdraw, ultimately passing in 1923 after a three year illness from tuberculosis.
