Lonnie Elvin Acord, 70, of Christiansburg passed away on May, 06 2015 surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Burl Acord and Gracie Elkins Acord; brother Steve Acord; and sister in law Dana Acord.
Lonnie is survived by his wife of 37 years, Winifred Peak Acord; son Lonnie C. Acord and wife Carol W. Acord from Pilot, VA; son Bill Bower of Roanoke, VA; son Michael Bower and wife Mary Bower of Vinton, VA; son Sam Bower and wife Christie Bower of Salem, VA; son Kevin Bower and wife Melissa Bower of Troutville, VA; brothers Kenneth Acord, Gary and wife Vickie Acord and Jonathan Acord; sister Patsy Honsinger and husband Verlin, Karen Acord and Lucy Acord. 16, grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and special friends Jack Gillispie, David Baugess and Arlene Grout.
Lonnie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend, mentor, craftsman, inventor, story teller, never met a stranger and loved by all. The family would like to thank the Blue Ridge Cancer Center, Lewis Gail Montgomery 2nd floor nurses and staff as well as Dr. McCoy and Dr. Stoeckle.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 10, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Horne Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, 11, 2015, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel, with Pastor Richard Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
