In 1774, Andrew Skidmore fought in the Battle of Point Pleasant as a Private in a Company led by his brother, Captain John Skidmore. He was a "daring and reckless" soldier and indian fighter. He was married to Margaret Johnson in 1783. Note: Andrew's county of birth and county of death is correct, but the reader is reminded that West Virginia didn't become a separate state from Virginia until 20 June 1863.
