George Foster Adams (born 28 July 1841) was the son of Robert Sloan Adams (died 1849) and Betsy Mizell. He married Amanda Walton in Lumpkin, GA, on 30 October 1860, when he was 19 and she was 18. George Foster joined the Third Georgia Cavalry early in 1862 and eventually became a 2nd Sergeant in Company E. After the Civil War, in 1869, he moved his family to Graves County, KY. When his children were grown, he and his wife Amanda moved to Clinton, KY (Hickman County).

George Foster's older sister, Elizabeth (born 12 June 1840), remained all her life in Stewart County, GA, where she married Abner Perkins (on 4 September 1856). She died on 10 November 1924.
