James Joseph "Jim" Scieszinski (1914 - 1969), youngest of four children of John Joseph Scieszinski (1884 - 1918) and Teresa (Foley) Scieszinski (1885 - 1916).

Jim's parents suffered from Diphtheria; his mother passing away at the age of thirty in 1916 and his father passing away at the age of thirty-four in 1918. Two months after the death of his mother in 1916, nineteen-month-old Jim was separated from his father and two brothers and sent to live with his Aunt and Uncle in Ottumwa, IA, Edward Joseph (1881 – 1963) and Kate (Scieszinski) McLamar (1886 – 1971).

On February 5, 1937 at Ottumwa, IA, Jim married Doris June Wentworth (1917 – 1991), daughter of Vern Lorenzo (1892 – 1961) and Vida (Ackles) Wentworth (1901 – 1974).

Doris and Jim were married for thirty-one years and had four children, two sons and two daughters. Jim passed away at the age of fifty-four on January 9, 1969 at Burlington, IA and was buried at Mt Calvary Cemetery, Melrose, IA.

Melrose Burial For Scieszinski

Funeral services for James Scieszinski, 54, former Ottumwan, who died Jan. 9 in Burlington after a 10 day illness, were held Jan. 11 in Ottumwa. Burial was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Melrose.

The son of John and Theresa Foley Scieszinski, he was born Sept. 4, 1914 at Melrose but spent most of his life in Ottumwa. He had lived in West Burlington since April 1968. His marriage to Doris Wentworth took place in Ottumwa on Feb. 5, 1937.She survives.

Besides his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frances Sinnott of Bettendorf and Mrs. Ronald Mierzwa of Moline, ILL.; one son, Dennis Scieszinski with the Army at Ft. Campbell, KY; five grandchildren, one brother, John Arthur Scieszinski of Janesville, Wis.; and his aunt, Mrs. E.J. McLamar, who reared him.
