Teresa Foley married John Joseph Scieszinski (1884 - 1918) April 30, 1907 at St. Patrick's Church, Melrose, Iowa. Teresa and John were the parents of four children: John Arthur Scieszinski (1908- 1982), Emmett William Scieszinski (1910 – 1948), Helen Patricia “Nellie” Scieszinski (1912 – 1914) and James Joseph Scieszinski (1914 – 1969).

Both Teresa and John suffered from Diphtheria and died young leaving their three surviving children to be raised by the Scieszinski family.

John Scieszinski and Miss Teresa Foley were married at St. Patrick’s Catholic church Tuesday morning April 30th, 1907 Father Brownigg officiating. After the marriage ceremony the bride and groom repaired to the residence of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Foley in Wayne Township where a large gathering of relatives and friends were gathered for the occasion. All join in wishing them many years of happiness and prosperity.

After several weeks of patient suffering Mrs. Scieszinski passed from life at her home north of town Tuesday morning, Feb. 16, 1916. Her death is a sad blow to her husband and three small children. Her useful life and kind disposition endeared her to everyone and the entire community bowed in sorrow at her untimely death. The obituary will be published next week.

Mrs. John Scieszinski died at her home north of town Tuesday, February 15, at 6 o’clock, following a lingering illness.

She is survived by the husband, three small children, one little daughter preceded her mother in death a little over a year ago. Her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. James Foley, four brothers, John, Dan, Hugh and Harry, Hemmingsford, Neb., two sisters, Miss Nellie Foley with her parents, and Mrs. Sylvia O’Bryan, near Weller.

The funeral was held at 9 o’clock Thursday from the home with services at St. Patrick’s church at 10:30 o’clock. Rev. W.J. McCormick celebrated Requiem High Mass and preached the funeral sermon. He spoke touchingly on the loss of the good Christian mother to the little children who will never know a mother’s love and care.

Interment took place in Mt. Calvary cemetery. The pall bearers were John and Harry Foley, Sylvia O’Bryan, Ed McLamar, Dan and Ed Scieszinski.

Mrs. James Foley and son, Harry, of Hemmingsford, Neb., Mrs. Patrick Judge, Mrs. James Judge of Boone, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. T.B. O’Bryan of Lovilia, Mrs. John Falvey, Miss Teresa Judge and John Walsh of Albia, attended the funeral.

Mrs. John Scieszinski passed peacefully to her eternal rest at 6 o'clock Tuesday morning after several weeks’ illness which was bore with Christian resignation.

Teresa Catherine* Foley was born June 13*, 1884 and departed this life, Feb. 15, 1916, age 32 years, 8 months. She leaves to mourn her a heart broken husband and 3 little boys, John, Emmett, and James, the eldest boy was 8 years old the day his mother died. She also leaves her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters* and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Scieszinski was a most devout Catholic with strict observance of her duty to God and undying love and devotion to her family. Even when she was called to part with her loved ones in death, her grief gave utterance only to the words “God's Will be Done”, possessing a sweet kind and loving disposition toward all her friends were many.

The funeral ceremonies were held at St. Patrick's church at Melrose and were largely attended, her pastor Rev. Father McCormick read the Requiem High Mass and spoke the sermon on the faithful and beautiful christian life of the deceased. The remains were tenderly laid to rest in Mt. Calvary cemetery beside her little daughter who preceded her a year ago. The pall bearers were two brothers, John and Harry Foley, and her brothers-in-law, Dan Scieszinski, S. D. O'Bryan, Edward Scieszinski and E. J. McLamar.
