Helen V. Case Gilmore passed away in Des Moines, WA. on February 10, 2014 at the age of 94. She was born to Marion M. and Rollin A. Case on September 6, 1919 in Sunnydale, WA. The third of six children, she distinguished herself as an excellent student and respected leader. She was a lifelong proponent of community service and compassionate aid to others. Her many accolades include the Camp Fire Girls Lifetime Achievement Award, numerous years as president of local PTA's, Washington State Mother of the Year, United Methodist Women president, and co-founder and manager of the Des Moines area food bank. Indeed, she dedicated her life to the care and well-being of family, friends, neighbors, and all those in need. Her faith and her exuberant love of children and nature proved an unfailing source of inspiration and guidance to all who knew her.

Helen is survived by her three children, David Gilmore of Louisiana, and daughters Virginia (Ron) Jackson of Seattle and Mari (Lynn) Klassert of Alaska; grandchildren Eric (Laney) Roberts, Kimberly (Richard) Kendall, Sarah (David) Mohler, Kyle (Kristin) Klassert, and Michael Gilmore; great-grandchildren Alex, Lila & Dylan, Emily & Drew, and Annika. Other survivors include Helen's sister Margaret Case Anderson and numerous nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be Sunday, July 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Des Moines United Methodist Church. We extend our love and gratitude to each of you who have participated in our mother/grandmother's life. We humbly suggest that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be directed to your favorite charity .
