Crash Fatal To Aviatioon Cadet, William R. Case
Aviation Cadel William R. Case, son of Marion Case of Des Moines, was killed instantley in a crash of his jet fighter on Monday, Jan. 18th. near Cave Creek, Ariz. He was stationed at Williams Air Force Base at Chandler, Ariz., and was to have been graduated and receive his wings the first week in March.
He was 24 yars of age and born and raised in Des Moines. He attended and was graduated from Highline High School in 1947 and from the Central Washington College of Education at Ellnsburg in 1952. Spotes was one of the activities in which he was interested and in which he excelled. He was on
the basket ball team and named in the all-state team in baseball.
Robert G. Dougherty, also of Williams Air Force Base, Ezcorted the body home. The Kent Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements of the service held Tuesdau, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. At the Des Moines Methodist Church. Rev. W. H. Hertzog officiated. Mrs. Gene Houplin was orgainst and soloist was
Wesley Stanley, a closest friend of the decased.
Pallbears were also some of his closest friends including Bob Jackson, John Davies, Jack Hardman, Howard Latimer, Miles Goodwin and Bob Ellington. Burial was at Washington Memorial Cemetery. Military rites were performed at the graveside.
Besides his mother, he is survivred by his sisters, Mrs. Jach Cunningham, Mrs Alex Gilmore and Mrs Herb Steekman, all of Des Moines, and Mrs. Richard Anderson in Fairfield. Calf.
