Revolutionary War hero. Most well known for carrying the evacuation message via horseback to all the forts and blockhouses up the Susquehanna River which was the start of the great runaway of 1780. All of this part of Pennsylvania was evacuated for several years due to Indian trouble.

Mr. Covanhovan, a soldier in the Revolutionary War, was buried in the old Presbyterian grave-yard. In time the grave had sunk in and the tombstone destroyed. About a year ago the Grand Army had the remains removed to Riverview cemetery.
