Annie Mae Shaw Fuller Clyburn was born in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, to Archie Bishop Shaw and Laura Campbell. She was a graduate of Bethune High School in 1907. She attended and graduated from Georgia Alabama Business College in Macon, GA. She was married on May 30, 1908 first to John Lambert Fuller, known as JL, who was born in Luthersville, GA. They had three children, Thomas Marion Fuller, Vincent Cefalu Fuller and Frances Elizabeth Fuller (m. to Erle Blankenship). She and JL went to Aruba, Dutch West Indies in 1929 where JL worked in the Accounting Department for Lago Oil and Transport Company. They enjoyed their years in Aruba but returned to Atlanta in 1935. She was widowed at a young age. One of her sayings was, "If you're going to town, you better put your spurs on." That meant you had to look nice and wear your best outfit. Annie worked as a bookkeeper at the Atlanta Farmers Market for many years. Late in life she married MacNeal (variously spelled McNeil) Clyburn of Bethune, SC. She belonged to several professional women's business organizations. She suffered a stroke from which she never recovered and later died of its complications. She was survived by her three children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is buried next to JL Fuller and near her son Vincent and his wife Emily Burns Fuller.
