Known as Medie Bouchey for most of his life, he was born Amedee Boucher, son of Jacques ("Jacob") Boucher and Alphonsine (Beaubien) Boucher. Medie's family was Catholic, and he was baptized in the Catholic church. Both parents were born in Nicolet, Quebec, Canada, and died in Kansas. On 2 February 1846, Jacques Boucher and Alphonsine Beaubien were married at Sainte-Monique, Nicolet, Quebec, Canada. A few years later, they immigrated to Kankakee County, Illinois; they moved on to Iroquois County, Illinois, where they lived near Alphonsine's parents, Edward and Margaret Beaubien. In the 1870s, the couple, now known as Jacob and Alphonsine, migrated to Kansas, settling in Center, Cloud County. In both locales, they were farmers, an occupation continued by son Medie.Known as Medie Bouchey for most of his life, he was born Amedee Boucher, son of Jacques ("Jacob") Boucher and Alphonsine (Beaubien) Boucher.
