William L. Ainsworth, 80, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away at 1:30 pm, Monday, June 1, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital.

William was born September 28, 1934 in Terry, MS to Alpheus E. and Cassie (Venable) Ainsworth, Sr. He was captain of a tow boat for Magnolia Fleet and was a veteran of the Army. William was of the Baptist faith.

He is survived by sister, Toffie Ainsworth Smith of Greensburg, MS; sister in law, Marteen Ainsworth of Baton Rouge, LA and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Anita, in 2014; his parents; sister, Loraine Headrick and brothers, George B. Ainsworth and Alpheus E. Ainsworth, Jr.

All Services will be private. Boone Funeral Home East Chapel –A Family Tradition Funeral Home, 5330 Washington Avenue, Evansville is handling William’s final arrangements.
