Rose Marie Combs was born in Dalhart, TX on April 3, 1926 to CC and Zumie Enlow Lucas. She was one of twelve children. Then shortly after her birth she rode back to Boise City, Oklahoma in a covered wagon. She lived through the dust bowl days or the “dirty thirties” as most called it.

She settled back in Dalhart and made it her home after she married Alfred Combs. She was the bookkeeper at Combs Trucking for many years. She then was involved at the Good Samaritan as a retiree. She was awarded the volunteer of the year for her work there. She was a member of the Peoples Church. She was the kind of woman that would give you what she had even if it was all she had.

She came from a big family and had a big family herself with six children; Don Combs, James Combs, Diane Thomas, Bill Combs, Sonny Combs, and Freddy Combs. She had eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and she loved every last one of them.

She was preceded by two sons, one sister, and three brothers.

She is survived by James Combs, Diane Thomas and her husband Bobby, Bill Combs, Sunny Combs, a sister Kay Hume and her husband James of Walsh, Colorado, two brothers-in-law, Bob Van Cleave of Tyler, and Lee Lovelady of Dalhart.
