Gerald Lucas, 96, died Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Dalhart, Texas
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at the First Christian Church, burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Dalhart, Texas. Arrangements entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home.
Gerald Corwin Lucas was born July 13, 1918 in Boise City, OK to Clora C. and Zumie (Enlow) Lucas. He grew up on the Lucas Ranch near Boise City. Gerald was a custom farmer before moving to Arizona in 1953, where he was Owner/Operator of a Service Station and Motel on Route 66. He later moved to Page, AZ and began a concrete business, where he was involved with the Glen Canyon Dam construction. In 1964 he moved to Phoenix, AZ, where he worked in construction until retiring in 1983. Mr. Lucas enjoyed being involved with his local neighborhood and community. Mr. Lucas is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Larry and Rita Lucas of Dalhart, TX. 1 brother – JC Lucas of Dalhart, TX and 3 sisters – Rose Combs of Dalhart, TX, Kay Hume of Walsh, CO and Reolla Benugli of Laredo, TX. 2 Grandchildren and 7 Great Grandchildren.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, his wife Nancy Inez Lucas, 1 brother and 6 sisters.
