Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 11, 2003, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong, Iowa, with Father Jerry Cosgrove officiating. Interment will be in Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, Iowa, with Military Graveside Rites performed by Weiby-Johnson VFW Post 5232 of Armstrong.
Marvin received his education in the Armstrong schools. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
On November 6, 1936, Marvin was united in marriage to Dorothy Boland in Armstrong. Following their marriage the couple made their home in the Armstrong area where Marvin was engaged in trucking and he also did custom work for area farmers. He enjoyed fishing and hunting as hobbies.
He was a lifetime member of Weiby-Johnson VFW Post 5232 of Armstrong. Marvin was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Left to cherish Marvin’s memory are his wife, Dorothy of Armstrong; two daughters, Patricia Shryock and her husband, Dennis of Estherville, Iowa; Marlene Bauer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
Preceding Marvin in death were one son, Thomas; one grandson, James Johnson; his parents; one brother, Harold; and one sister, Edna Timm. (Sentinel, Fairmont, MN, November 10, 2003)
