Edith Biddix Howell, age 88, of Marion, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2015 at the Brian Center of Spruce Pine. A native of McDowell County, Edith was born November 1, 1926 and was a daughter of the late Greene and Lizzie Biddix. Edith was an active member of first Presbyterian Church in Marion for 50 years. She worked in a loan office for many years and was a member of the Pilot Club since 1972. Edith enjoyed working in her flower garden in her spare time. Preceding Edith in death was her husband, Harry Howell.

Surviving Mrs. Howell is a son, Benny Howell of Marion; two grandsons, Fred Howell and wife Allison of Marion and Harry Howell and wife Heather of Morganton; two great granddaughters, Audra Gibbs and McKinsey Howell; special family friend, Dean Ollis of Marion.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 3:00 pm in the chapel of Westmoreland Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Coffey officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at McDowell Memorial Park.
