Funeral services for Mrs. Hubert L. Wallace, 62, a former resident of Stillwater whose death occurred Friday, December 16, 1938, in Mercedes, Tex., will be held Tuesday afternoon, 2:30 o'clock, at Strode Funeral home, the Rev. Allen S. Davis officiating.
Burial will be in Fairlawn cemetery here, her nephews acting as bearers. Order of Eastern Star services will be held at the funeral home, officers of Stillwater chapter No. 54 officiating.
Margaret Mertie Masheter was born at Sabetha, Kan., on July 18, 1876, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Masheter. She was married at Sabetha in November of 1900 to Hubert L. Wallace, who survives her.
Decedent was reared on a farm near Sabetha. After her marriage she moved with her husband to Oklahoma to make their home at Lindsay, where they lived for eighteen years. They then moved to Stillwater to live for a short time. From here they went to California to live a year.
Because of her husband's failing health, they moved in 1920 to Mercedes, Tex., where they have since lived.
For the last eighteen years she had cared constantly for her husband who is in ill health. She had been active in Eastern Star work, and was a past worthy matron of the Lindsay chapter. She also was active in church work.
Survivors include two brothers and two sisters. They are C.C. Masheter, Tryon; J.A. Masheter, Glencoe; Miss Mable Masheter, Mercedes, Tex. and Mrs. C.E. Hull, Stillwater. She also leaves twelve nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews.
