Catherine L. "Katie" Whistler, 75, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, at home.
Born May 16, 1933, in Dry Run, Franklin County, she was a daughter of the late Elmer and Nettie Coons Brown.
Katie was a longtime member of Huntsdale Church of the Brethren and a former Girl Scout leader in Huntsdale. She was a member of the Women's Major Bowling League of Carlisle, Penn Township Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and a charter member of Farm Women's Group 15 of Cumberland County.
Surviving is her husband of 57 years, Paul Whistler of Carlisle; two daughters, Shirley L. Provost and Cindia K. Whistler, both of Carlisle; and a sister, Dorothy Shoap of Shippensburg. She was preceded in death by her son, Ray Whistler; a brother, Claire Brown; and two sisters, Violet Carper and Cree Gossard.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Huntsdale Church of the Brethren, 170 Church Road, Carlisle, with the Rev. Jan E. Custer officiating. Burial will be in Huntsdale Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Carlisle. Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. today in Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, 219 N. Hanover St., Carlisle, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
