J. Edgar (Ed) Black, 86, of Duncannon and formerly of Chambersburg, passed away November 24, 2014, at Duncannon Nursing Home. He was born July 13, 1928, in Three Springs, PA to James and Mary (Everhart) Black. He is the husband of Velma I. Kerling Black. Ed was a member of the Open Door Church of Chambersburg. He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean Conflict in Germany. He is survived by his wife, Velma and their two children: Eilene D. (wife of Gary) Bowen of Dauphin, PA and Barry D. (husband of Tracey) Black of Sarasota, FL. He is survived by three grandsons; and one granddaughter; and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by three sisters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, December 1, 2014, at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., with the Rev. Carl McKee officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110. Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 725 Norland Ave., Chambersburg, PA will be handling the arrangements.
