DE LEON – Anna Bailey Chambers, 81, of De Leon, Texas, passed away Wednesday May 27, 2015.
Interment in the Baggett Creek Cemetery.
Anna was born Jan. 30, 1934, to George Random and Hazel (Smothers) Stubblefield in Mineral Wells. Following graduation from Stephenville High School, Anna attended college for classes in business. She worked several different jobs including Sears and the family plumbing business where, at that time, was one of the first women, if not the first, to hold a plumber's license in the state of Texas.
Anna married Charles L. Chambers in 1982 and lived in the Comanche area for more than 20 years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Anna’s interest was primarily in sports. She loved to fish and hunt, and followed all kinds of teams – Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers and even bull riding – on TV. Anna was excellent in the kitchen, with cakes and dressing her specialties. Her husband Charles managed the garden and Anna “put up/canned” all the items he grew.
Anna is survived by her husband of 32 years, Charles Chambers; son, Mark Bailey and grandson, Ty Bailey; stepchildren, Charlene Ramos, Deedee Martin, Charles Eugene Chambers, Eddie Bailey, Tommy Bailey and Tommy Bailey; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and nephews, Roe and George Gordon.
She was preceded in death by G.C. Bailey; parents, George and Hazel Stubblefield; and brother, George Stubblefield.
