Dorcas Trask, the seventh child and fourth daughter of Simon and Catherine (Denmead) Trask was born on 20 Sep 1838 in Merriott, Somerset, England. She came with hefr parents and siblings to Canada West in 1842. She grew up in Peel, Wellington County and married William Boyle (b.about 1840) there on 10 Jan 1859. Their first seven children were born in Peel, - William Henry (1859), Albert Oscar (1861), George Thomas (1863), Amanda Melvina (1865), Dorcas Ena Matilda (1867), John Ethelbert (1869) and Rosa Minnie (1871). The family then moved to Nottawasaga, Simcoe, Ontario, where the last three children were born - Richard Herman (1874), Anna Jamimia (1876) and Arthur Emerson (1879). Most of this family ended up in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, where Dorcas and William were recorded on the 1901 Canada Census in Winnipeg, Manitoba. William died in Saskatchewan on 28 Sep 1903 and Dorcas, his widow, went to QuèAppelle (Sintaluta), Saskatchewan to live with Thomas H. and Dorcas E.M. (Trask) Reeve, her son-in-law and daughter. She was recorded with them on the 1906 Census of the Prairie Provinces but does not appear with them, or with any of the families of her other children, on the 1911 Canada Census. She may have moved back to Manitoba because she is buried beside her husband William in Carberry Cemetery. Although her place of death is unknown, her date of death (given by the inscription on her tombstone) is April 7, 1917.
