Harold was baptized Harold Clifford Beyer Fell, but because of his sandy, red hair, he was nicknamed, "Reds". The baptism took place at the home of his parents on Krewstown Road, Bustleton, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on 28 May 1922. The officiant was the Reverend William McClelland of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, Philadelphia. The sponsors were William Fell (his father) and Fannie Eisle.

He enlisted as Private 20 May 1943 at Philadelphia, and entered the service on the US Army on 03 Jun 1943. He was in domestic service until 29 Nov 1943, then in foreign service in the Pacific Islands, primarily in New Guinea, until 09 Mar 1945. He sustained injury to his toes in Apr 1944 form falling earth, stone or other material. He contracted malaria. He returned to domestic service until his Honorable Discharge on 28 Jul 1945 from the 2nd Indiana Headquarters Hospital Center at Camp Pickett, Virginia.

Harold "Reds" Fell married Fern Belle Fisher in Jan 1948. They appeared on the 20 Apr 1950 US Census together in Rockledge, Montgomery, Pennsylvania. "Reds" was a carpenter for a building contractor.

They became the parents of three sons between 1955 and 1960.

He died 04 Feb 1995 in Jenkintown, Montgomery, Pennsylvania. Fern died six months later on 26 Aug 1995 in the same location.
