In the 1850 US Census, Daniel is found living in the household of his mother, Ann and four siblings; Catharine, George, Mary and Susan Duncan.

In the 1860 US Census, he is found living in the household of James Richardson, along with Sally and Joanna Rite.

1862, 44th Consolidated Regiment, Tennessee Infantry Co. K, Confederate Army (See application for pension below).

In the 1870 US Census, he is found living in the household of his brother-in-law and sister, Dekalb and Mary Elizabeth Yell.

In the1880 US Census, he is living with his step-father and mother, David T. and Ann P. Nowlin.

In the 1900 and 1910 US Census, he is found living in the household of his brother-in-law and sister, William T, and Susan Gentry.

In the 1920 US Census, he is still living in the household of his brother-in-law, William T. Gentry. His sister, Susan Gentry, passed away in 1919.

Born Oct. 17, 1837 in Coffee County, Tennessee
Enlisted in Hillsboro, Tennessee under the command of Col. Shields Company, Col. John Fulton Regimental Officer.
Served in Capt. Mitchael Crawford's Co.K when he was wounded at the battle of Perryville, Kentucky, Oct. 8, 1862. His left leg was shot off just below the knee by a piece of shell. He was captured the next day, held until paroled Dec. 1862 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Took the oath of allegiance.
Never married and lived with his brother-in-law.

Entitled to an increase in pension of $5.00, 21 June 1919. (FHL film 969,784)
