Leva Fern Penny, 81, of Richmond, MO passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at North Kansas City Hospital, North Kansas City, MO.

Leva was born on October 18, 1933 in Elkhorn, MO to John Bryon and Nora E. (Norris) Cain. She first married Howard E. McGinnis of Richmond on August 8, 1950. He preceded her in death on November 8, 1958. She later married Kenneth Charles Penny of Stet, MO on August 14, 1960. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2009.

Survivors include three sons and three daughters-in-law, Johnny and Vickie McGinnis of Hardin, MO, Dwayne and Marsha Penny of Stet, MO and Stephen and Jami Penny of Hardin, MO; one daughter and one son-in-law, Belinda and Darrell Flick of Carrollton, MO; one brother and one sister-in-law, Byron “LeRoy” and Linda Cain of Richmond; 8 grandchildren , Jeremy McGinnis and his wife, Jamie, Julie (McGinnis) and her husband, Scott McClure, Derek Flick, Kayla (Flick) and her husband, Daniel Harris, Mary Penny, Emma Penny, Addison Penny and Carson Penny; 8 great-grandchildren, Kinley McClure, Kottin McClure, Lindsey Clemens, Kassie McGinnis, Kaden McGinnis and Karson Harris; and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Amaryllis Neff; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Leva was preceded in death by one brother, Robert L. Cain

Leva graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in 1950. She was a housewife & homemaker. She was a cook at the Stet High School for 10 years. Over the years Leva was a member of the Jolly Jill’s Couples Club in Richmond, Extension Club in Russellville, MO and Beta Sigma Fi Sorority in Norborne. Leva loved to garden and play cards. Leva has been a member of the Rock Falls Baptist Church since childhood. She lived in the Stet area most of her life.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Ray County Hospice.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in the Richmond Memory Gardens Cemetery.
