Gido was a graduate of East High School in 1950 where he was an all star basketball player as well as the president of the National Honor Society. Gido went on to work for Hammermill and later International Paper as a purchasing agent for 38 years until his retirement in 1991. In retirement he enjoyed working on the grounds crew at the Kahkwa Club. Gido enjoyed golf and woodworking. He was an avid sports fan who liked the New York Yankees, Notre Dame football, and Duke basketball.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Alo.
Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Rose Marie Fay Alo; three daughters, LaVaughn Buchanan, husband Michael, of Millcreek, Lisa Ann Seaman, husband Michael, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Karra Rae Cubellis, husband Louis, of Shepherdstown, W. Va.; two brothers, Armand Alo, wife Clementine and Rudolph Alo, wife Marilyn, both of Erie; two sisters, Vilma Paterniti, husband Thomas, of Erie and Dolores Fresch, husband Walter of Phoenixville, Pa.; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
