George was a Blacksmith like his father and grandfather before him. He was also a farmer. He was the son of Capt. Daniel Gore and Mary Parks. He married first Polly Larned and had 7 children: Silas, Larned, Edwin, Minerva, Isiah Tyson, Daniel, and Joel Rogers. After her death, he married 2nd Susanna Carey and they had 8 children: Charles, George Jr., Polly, Susannah, Eleaner, Mary, Sarah, , and John.
