Augusta, GA - Mr. Gibson D. "Gib" Waters, Jr. passed away at University hospital, after battling colon cancer for six weeks, on Friday, June 10, 2005.
Mr. Waters was born in Statesboro, GA and had lived in Augusta all of his life. He was a member of First Primitive Baptist Church of Augusta. Mr. Waters was retired from Savannah River Site and from the S.C. Air National Guard. He served his country in Operation Desert Storm while in the S.C. Air National Guard.
Survivors include his beloved wife; Gwen Akins Waters of Hephzibah, GA , his son; Gibson Denmark Waters, III of Brooklet, GA , his daughter; Stacie Waters, his mother; Mrs. Gibson D. Waters, Sr. (Gladys) and his brother Bill Waters all of Augusta. Mr. Waters was preceded in death by his father Gibson D. Waters, Sr. and his sister Cecelia Waters. .
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 13, 2005,11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Elders Max Hicks and Mike Newman officiating. Interment followed at 4:00 P.M. in Upper Black Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Brooklet, GA. with Elder Howard Cox assisting at the graveside.
The family received friends Sunday from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
