Karen Diane Schmidt passed away at home in Windsor on Oct. 3, 2014.

Karen was born April 17, 1947, to Dave and Dolly (Wassenmiller) Kraus in Windsor. The Kraus family farmed in the Windsor and Severance area. In her youth Karen enjoyed horseback riding and barrel racing. She especially enjoyed riding in the Labor Day and 4th of July parades for the Windsor Saddle Club.

Karen married Steve Schmidt in Windsor. She was a life-long member of Faith United Church of Christ. She will be lovingly remembered for her kind and selfless devotion to her family whom she enjoyed spending time with and boating at Fossil Creek and Windsor Shores. She loved watching her children and grandchildren waterski and tube.

She worked at Windsor Health Care Center and then for Kodak Colorado Division for 15 years before retiring in 1993.

Karen is survived by her husband, three children and spouses, six grandchildren, nieces and nephews [survivors names omitted].

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Dolly (Wassenmiller) Kraus; brother Larry Kraus and nephew Monte Kraus.
