Enlisted as a Private in Company E,
1 Regiment Wisconsin InfantryVolunteers
at Madison Wisconsin, 17-April-1861 to
17-August1864, and rose to the rank of
Captain, He was wounded by a musket ball
in his left side at Edward's Ferry Virginia while
acting as a scout with two other men, from
Company E. The three killed three Rebels and
wounded seven more and retreated across the
Potomac 3-August-1861, He was at one time an
inmate of the Minnesota Solider's Home, Minnehaha,
Minnesota. And later in the House at Leavenworth, Kansas
