They were the parents of two daughters, Achsah Washburn Dresser and Charlotte E. Dresser.

"Charles was discharged on a surgeon's certificate of disability. According to my research, those were issued to soldier's who many times couldn't even walk, or had disease that was not combat related. Many died shortly after being discharged. My search for Charles Dresser in death records showed a Charles Dresser who was buried in the South Boston burial grounds which was also known as the South Boston Farm Cemetery. Charles' residence is shown as the House of Industry in Boston. His burial was listed as 21 Nov 1831 and he died of intemperance (alcoholism, possibly due to chronic pain). His age is listed as 40 which would make his birth about 1791 which coincides with Charles' actual birth date. I found another record under Massachusetts Vital Records, 1620-1988 listing Charles Dresser who died on 20 Nov 1831 in Boston which matches all of the other information.
The enlistment record for Charles Dresser, private, US Lgt Infantry, 4 Jan 1817, assigned to Capt. H.K. Craig's Company "I" Fort Independence (Castle Island) in Boston Harbor. He listed he was born in Goshen, CT. He was a farmer and age 25. Goshen is listed as the residence of his mother, Juliana (Hurlburt) Dresser on the birth record of his siblings Nathan, Anna, Benjamin, and Noyes according to the Vernon VT birth record for them.
I speculate since he was a runaway in 1811 he may have wanted to muddy the trail back to Vernon. He deserted this duty on 20 Aug 1817."
