Joseph Howard was the seventh of ten children born to Thomas and Jemima Howard. He married Roena Emeline McKey, but I have been unable to find their marriage record. Joseph and Roena Emeline "Emma" had at least seven children, four of whom died as infants or young children.
Joseph served in the 42nd Mississippi Infantry, Company A, Carroll Fencibles, which was raised in Carroll County, Mississippi. The 42nd Infantry Regiment was organized at Oxford, Mississippi on May 14, 1862.
He is my second great grand uncle. His sister Mary Howard is my great-great grandmother.
