Bryan “Boonie” Hudson, 86 of La Center, KY died at 2:06 p.m. Friday, May 8, 2015 at his home.

He was born Between the Rivers at Hemitite, KY near Golden Pond. His father, Cleve Hudson worked as a Game Protector for the Hillman Land and Iron Company and the area known then as The Kentucky Woodlands National Wildlife Area. Boonie following his Dad’s example, also worked in The Kentucky Woodlands area, trapping and relocating deer and turkey as well as establishing wildlife habitat.

After serving in the US Army during the Korean war, he returned home and married Myrtie Yvonne Calhoun. He worked at Camp John Currie , then moved his young family to the newly established Ballard County Wildlife Management Area. Boonie served the sportsmen of Kentucky by clearing land, building roads, levees, establishing habitat and protecting wildlife on the Ballard Wildlife refuge.

During the most exciting time of the year, goose hunting season, he managed and ensured an enjoyable hunt in the blinds on “ Hill Ridge”. After many years of service with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Boonie retired, in 1987, as a supervisor from the Ballard Wildlife Management Area. Boonie enjoyed hunting, gardening, his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He was a member of Oscar Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Grover Cleveland Hudson and Eva Mae Cossey Hudson, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Florence and an infant brother, Edward; one sister, Beulah Cothran; six brothers, Ross, Robert, David, James “Jim”, Nelson and Wallace “Fluff” Hudson.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah. Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Cumberland Cemetery in Land Between the Lakes with military rites.
