Isabella Teresa "Belle" Pressly was born March 13, 1866, in Starkville, Oktibbeha County, Miss., and is one of five surviving members of a family of seven children born to David and Sarah (Paden) Pressly, both of whom are natives of South Carolina. Belle was educated in the classical schools in Starkville and attended Due West Female College in Due West, South Carolina; graduating in 1885.

Belle Pressly moved to Troy, Tennessee and lived with her brother, Dr. William C. Pressly and his family to help with their growing family. Belle Pressly starting teaching school in and around Troy; teaching until her retirement after some 30 odd years.

Isabella Teresa "Belle" Pressly departed this life on the 4th day of February 1945 at the age of 78 years, 10 months and 21 days. She is buried near her brothers, William and Thomas in Troy cemetery.
