Harry E. Peterson, 88, of Grant Township, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at his residence.

He was born April 12, 1927, on the family farm in Grant Township, the only son of Elmer and Grace (Teeter) Peterson, and lived there his entire life. During WWII, Harry served with the US Army in the European Theatre.

Following his discharge, he returned to the farm, and on June 2, 1956 he married Betty Buxton. He continued to actively farm, was a member of the Michigan Farm Bureau, and attended both the Grant Center United Methodist Church and the Old Country Church. Harry loved God, his family, and his farm!

Harry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty; three children, Barbara (Ray) Seaman of Jenison, Peter John (Brenda) Peterson of Big Rapids, and Joan (Jeff) McCrory of Big Rapids; eight grandchildren, Andrea (James) Kennedy, Nathan Seaman, Ryan (Jenna) Bull, Jason Bull, Amanda (Matt) Currie, Cory (Kim) Peterson, Makenzi (Adam) Currie, and Michael Peterson; nine great grandchildren, Jonathan, Benjamin, Samantha, Madilyn, Grace, Curt, Kay, Jack and Preslee; his very special sister Lois Schroeder; two brothers-in-law, Dr. Alpha Clark and Bruce Bryde; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marlene Clark and Vivian Bryde; and one brother in law, Allen Schroeder.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Grant Center United Methodist Church, with Pastor Lyle Ball officiating. His cremains will be interred in the Grant Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Youth Haven Ranch.
