ROY M. GERWIG
ROME -- Roy M. Gerwig, 79, of New London, a retired carpenter, died April 11 from natural causes according to Coroner Thomas A. Cox.
Mr. Gerwig was employed at the Rome State School for 33 years before he retired.
He was born in New London and spent his entire life there, He married Eva White in 1915 in New London. He was one of the organizers of the New London Fire Department and was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Churchville.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Ernestine) Rider, Stacy Basin; three sons, Richard J., Roger G., and Ronald C. Gerwig, all of New London, and three sisters, Mrs. Elliott (Mabel) Yager, Higginsville, and Mrs. Ruby Shadduck and Miss Helen Gerwig, both of New London.
The funeral will be at 2 tomorrow from St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Churchville. Calling hours at the Griffin & Aldridge Funeral Home are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 today.
