Funeral services for Mrs. Robert J. Podratz were held Sept. 29 from the Zion Lutheran church, Rev. A. C. Seltz officiated. Pallbearers were Henry Streu, W. Roth, Walter Christenson, Sidney Satterlee, Sigrud Bye and Lysthrop Quam. Interment was made in Kinkead cemetery.
Mrs. R. J. (Hilma Mathilda) Podratz was born oct. 12, 1893, in Evansville township, the daughter of John and Mary Borgen. She was baptized and confirmed by Rev. T. A. Sattree of Evansville. She was a graduate of Moorhead State Teachers College and spent several years teaching in North Dakota and Douglas and Todd counties. She was united in marriage to R. J. Podratz by Rev. Stubb of Minneapolis on Nov. 27, 1934. Since their marriage they have made their home in Alexandria, where she has been a member of Zion Lutheran church since that time. She had been for several years very active in bowling and served as secretary of leagues.
She passed away Sept. 25, at St. Luke's hospital at the age of 61 years, 11 months and 13 days. She had been a patient sufferer with asthma for years. She leaves to mourn her husband; a brother, Albert Borgen of Erdahl; a sister (Myrtle), Mrs. Albert Salveson of Minneapolis; a niece, Mrs. Gordon Swanson of Alexandria; a nephew, John Borgen of Erdahl.
