Settled with her family in Sumner County, Tennessee, in 1812. There, in the Fall of 1813, first she, then her husband, Walter, contracted a fever from contaminated milk and died. They left their two young orphaned sons to be raised by her brother, Joseph H Conn, her sister, Octavia Brown, and another aunt, in Cairo, Tennessee.
