Bernard James Troxel was born in Cameron, Mo., on Oct. 27, 1930. His parents were Rosco Albert and Anna L. (Wade) Troxel. Bernard graduated from Amity, Missouri High School, and entered the United State Force in 1949.

On Sept. 7, 1951, he married Iola Noveline Richey in Hiawatha, Kansas. They became the parents of five children.

In 1969, he retired at the rank of master sergeant, and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. Bernard earned an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Bernard and Iola moved to Oregon, Mo. in 1989, and Iola passed away in 1994. Bernard died at his Oregon home on Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at the age of 67 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rosco and Anna Troxell, and his wife, Iola.

Survivors include his sons, Jimmie Dale and B.J., both of Cheyenne, Wyoming, and Clifford Wayne, Las Vegas, Nev., two daughters, Cynthia Lynn Troxell-Pawling and Bonnie Sue Runnels, both of Cheyenne; nine grandchildren, Michael J., Ryan M., and Alex L. Troxell, Christopher A. and Athena M. Troxell, Bailey J. and Tess V. Pawling, Andrew J. and Caryn E. Runnels.

Bernard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints, St. Joseph, and the Harris E. Petree American Legion Post No. 190, Oregon, Mo. He especially enjoyed his visits with family and spending time in his large, well-cares for garden spot.
