Elvera "Vera" M. Feltes, 93, of Aurora passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, IL. She was born on October 22, 1921in Aurora, IL to Theodore and Helen Schwartz. She was educated in the Aurora school system where she was a 1939 graduate of East Aurora High School and was a 1940 graduate of Ritchie Secretarial School. On March 3, 1943, she entered the women's branch of the US Navy as a W.A.V.E. She served in the Naval Intelligence Department in Washington D.C. In January of 1947, she was honorably discharged as a First Class Petty Officer and then returned to Aurora. On April 23, 1949, she married Howard J. Feltes at St. Nicholas Church. She was a member of Holy Angels Church since 1949. She was a member of St. Anne's Society of Holy Angels Church; a life member of Provena Mercy Auxiliary where she served two terms as President and was a volunteer for Mercy for more than 30 years. She was a charter member of the Lay Board of Trustees of Rosary High School where she served as Chairperson of Development and later as Chairperson of the Trustee Board. She also was a life member of the Veritas Society of Rosary High School. She was a life member of the Abbot Marmion Society and was active in various Marmion activities. She served as a volunteer at Holy Angels School both as a teacher's aide and in the library. She was a long time Eucharistic Minister at Holy Angels Church. She was a life member of the Aurora Historical Society and a member of the Kane Country Republican Women. She was a member of the Aurora Country Club where she had played golf and bowled. Elvera is survived by her three children Sarah Beth (John) Stride of Hudson, OH, Thomas (Jennifer) Feltes of Bluffton, SC, and Timothy (Karla) Feltes of Wheaton, IL; seven grandchildren Megan of Chicago, IL, Lyndsey and Erin Stride of Hudson, OH, Alexandria Feltes of Catalina Island, CA, Theodore Feltes of Bluffton, SC, and Elizabeth and Anna-Kathryn Feltes of Wheaton, IL; two sisters-in-law Dorothy Black and Laurie Feltes both of Aurora; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years Howard Feltes in 2000; her daughter Pamela in 1988; her parents Helen and Theodore Schwartz; and her parents-in-law Josephine and Leonard C. Feltes. Funeral from THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY will be Monday, May 4, 2015 from 9:30am to Holy Angels Church at 10:00am. A concelebrated Mass will be offered by Fr. Michael Lavan, Rt. Rev. Abbot John Brahill, OSB and Fr. Charles Reichenbacher, OSB. Interment will be at Marywood Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, May 3, 2015 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm with a liturgical wake service at 7:00pm at THE DALEIDEN MORTUARY, 220 N.
